Equipment

  • pin roller
  • blender
  • 9 inch pie pan

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1 tsp Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 tsp Pink Himalayan Salt
  • 1/2 cup Plant Based Butter
  • 4 tbsp Ice Water

Instructions

  • Gather all ingredients, a blender, pin roller, and 9 inch pie pan.
  • Add flour, sugar, and salt to the blender and pulse 4-5 times to combine.
  • Next add the plant based butter and process for 10-12 seconds.
  • Add the ice cold water to the blender and process for 10 seconds.
  • Remove the dough from the blender, place on a floured surface and roll into a ball.
  • Use a rolling pin to flatten the dough into a 12 inch circle.
  • Carefully shift the flattened dough to a 9 inch pie pan. Do not worry about doing this perfectly. You will be able to mend the pie crust in the pan.
  • Use a fork to press the ends of the pie crust around the pie pan edges to give the crust a simple design.
  • Feel free to be creative.Use the pie crust immediately or refrigerate for later use.

Notes

  • Make sure the plant based butter is refrigerated before use.
  • A food processor or using your hands works well if you do not have a blender.
  • Add ice to a cup or bowl of water if you need ice cold water.
  • If you do not have a rolling pin then there are alternatives like what I used, a tall glass bottle. See other ideas here.
