Ola my friend! Let’s make homemade bbq sauce from scratch. Yes, this is possible plus it is simple and quick. You can skip the store bought bbq sauce and trying to doctor it up to taste how you want it to taste. Also, not to mention not having to worry about inflation making bbq sauce that you can make better cost a small fortune. I exaggerated but that is what is feels like sometimes. But it is looking better and better to me to make my own bbq sauce exactly how I like it for a fraction of the costs yielding triple the batch in most cases.
If you make your own bbq sauce then you will not have to worry about the ingredient types or amounts because you will be in control. Homemade BBQ Sauce Ingredients and Prep
- Tomato Paste (Two – 6 oz cans)
- Lemon Juice (2 tbsp)
- Brown Sugar (1/2 cup)
- Apple Cider Vinegar (1/2 cup)
- Worcestershire sauce (1 tbsp)
- Soy Sauce (2 tbsp)
- 100% Honey (4 tbsp)
- Smoked paprika (2 tsp)
- McCormick Himalayan Pink Salt, Black Pepper & Garlic seasoning (3 tsp)
- Corn Starch (a pinch)
- Water (1 cup)
- Heat skillet on medium to high heat (7 on a scale of 1 to 9).
- Add tomato paste to skillet. Add water to the cans to help get any remaining tomato paste out of the can. Doing this helps meet the 1 cup water requirement for this recipe.
- Next add the lemon juice, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce to the skillet and stir until well blended.
- Add the honey, smoked paprika and seasoning. Stir well.
- Next add a pinch of cornstarch to the sauce and stir well. The cornstarch will help thicken the bbq sauce more but not add too many calories.
- Allow to simmer for about 7-10 minutes.
- Cool down before consuming or storing.
