How to Make Easy Homemade Cajun Seasoning

Ola my friend! You may not be ready for this super easy homemade cajun seasoning recipe. However, there’s a high chance you will become infatuated with this cajun seasoning. It is the perfect blend of spicy, earthy, hot, pungent, and herbaceous bold bursting flavors. You have been warned because once I used it the first time, I wanted to use it over and over again.

Like me, you may end up wanting to use this seasoning for dishes that don’t even make sense LOL. For example, I am planning to make a cajun lentil stew. Just an idea that popped in my mind. My motto is not to say no to a food idea no matter how ridiculous it may seem initially (of course within the guidelines of my manifesto).

This cajun seasoning was adopted from immaculate bites’ Creole Cajun Seasoning post. I was surprised to learn how simple and fast it was to make. The amazing thing about this recipe is that you probably already have all the ingredients to make it. Ready to find out? Let’s go!

Homemade Cajun Seasoning Ingredients & Prep

▢ Paprika – 6 tbsp

▢ Onion Powder – 3 tbsp

▢ Garlic Powder – 3 tbsp

▢ Black Pepper – 1 ½ tbsp

▢ White Pepper – 1 ½ tbsp

▢ Cayenne Pepper – ½ tbsp

▢ Italian Seasoning – 5 ½ tbsp

  1. Gather all ingredients and a clean empty container or a small mixing bowl.
  2. Add all ingredients to the bowl or the container.
  3. Mix well.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of pepper spices per your preferences.
  • I used regular Paprika (the Aldi’s Stonemill brand which is sweet or Hungarian) but feel free to use smoked paprika or even hot paprika if you want a more spicy blend.
  • The Italian seasoning can be any brand as most brands are good. Just make sure there’s no salt added.
  • Store in plastic or glass airtight containers for short and long term storage. I reused an empty container that had Black Himalayan Salt previously.

Health Benefits

Here are my favorite for white pepper:

  • High capability of fighting body damaging free radicals thanks to being loaded with antioxidants
  • Helps reduce inflammation thanks to the alkaloid piperine and it’s anti-inflammatory effects
  • Helps reduce headaches thanks to the compound capsaicin which dilate or relax blood vessels which helps better blood flow
  • Is an excellent decongestant for the lungs and nasal passages
  • Helps prevent gas 😅 thanks again to our friend piperine
