Awesome Sriracha Philadelphia Roll in a Bowl

Ola my friend! Do you have vegan cream cheese that you need to use quickly? Well, I was in the same spot recently and my mind immediately went to the delicious Philadelphia sushi rolls I used to “inhale”. The main ingredients are smoked salmon, cream cheese and (in most cases) cucumber. You may see rolls with avocado in them which is a bonus. No sushi seaweed for the roll? No problem. Try tossing the rice, salmon, vegan cream cheese and cucumber in a regular bowl. That is right. Turn your Philadelphia roll into a Philadelphia sushi bowl!

Sriracha Philadelphia Roll Bowl Ingredients & Prep

Sushi Roll Bowl

  • Brown Rice
  • Salmon
  • Cucumbers
  • Vegan Cream Cheese
  • Himalayan Pink Salt
  • Smoked Paprika
  • Black Pepper
  • 100% Olive Oil

Sriracha Sauce

  • 1 tbs Sriracha sauce
  • 2 tsp 100% Maple syrup

Preparing the Sushi Bowl Ingredients

  1. Rinse brown rice and add to crock pot for pressure cooking.
  2. Rinse salmon and add to an aluminum foil lined pan. Massage a little olive oil onto the salmon. Season the salmon well with Himalayan pink salt, smoked paprika, and black pepper. Cover the pan with aluminum foil. Bake in the oven on 450 degrees Fahrenheit for approximately 15 minutes or until tender.
  3. Rinse and cut cucumbers into medium size spheres or chunks.
  4. Add sriracha sauce and maple syrup to a bowl and stir until well blended. Set aside.

Bowl Layering

  1. In a dinner bowl, add brown rice as the base.
  2. Layer the cucumbers on top of the rice.
  3. Add salmon slices to the bowl.
  4. Top with vegan cream cheese and sriracha sauce.

Notes

  1. Feel free to substitute cucumber for another vegetable of your choice. However, the cucumber gives the perfect balance to the sweet and spicy bowl.
  2. Add avocado if you can. You will not regret that decision.
  3. Frozen salmon is best because the salmon comes out so juicy and tender.
  4. Be as generous with the seasoning per your preferences and / or dietary needs.
  5. I removed the cucumber skins but you can leave the skin and still enjoy this meal greatly.
  6. You can season the rice if you like with plant butter, Himalayan pink salt and black pepper. I never have too because the salmon and the Sriracha sauce seasons the bowl so well.

My favorite for cucumbers:

  • high water content so it promotes hydration
  • known to be diabetic friendly because it reduces blood sugar levels fairly well
  • a great source of fiber and helps prevent constipation (it has to be the high water content too lol)
  • keeps your teeth and gums healthy
  • the silica in cucumbers is one of your skin’s favorite ally (also your hair and nails)
