Flexitarian Season 2024 | And The Best Pan Seared Salmon

Ola my friend! Flexitarian Season 2024 officially started yesterday, July 20, 2024. A flexitarian is someone that eat mostly vegan and vegetarian foods but also eat meat periodically and/or occasionally. I ate meat (salmon) for the first time in six months. I decided to make a pan seared salmon avocado and egg wrap. And it was fire. Oh, it also had a drizzle of my beloved spicy mayo sauce. (Inhaling and exhaling slowly).

So, was I nervous? How did my body respond to meat after six months? Did you miss eating meat? Did the meat taste good to you after not eating it for six months? How did you prepare your mind, body, and soul to eat meat for the first time in six months?! What’s next? There are so many questions to answer. Keep reading to find out!

Questions

How did you end your vegetarian season / start your flexitarian season 2024?

I decided to make a pan seared salmon avocado and egg wrap. Think of the salmon egg avocado bagel but minus the bagel substituted for Iraqi flat bread. So yummy. I thought fish would be a good introduction to meat after six months and from there I can wean myself to I don’t know, beef ribs by the following weekend. I have a special engagement and trying some beef ribs is part of the activities haha.

Were you nervous?

Yes. A big yes. And another big YES. I did not know if I would feel sick to my stomach. I did not know what to expect. However, I knew that I should be fine overall.

How did your body respond to meat after six months?

I took one bite and practically inhaled it because I was a bit hungry. I remember thinking, “I feel fine . . . this is going pretty well.” I felt great after eating the salmon egg and avocado wrap. It’s only been one day so I’m monitoring to see how I feel and intentionally listening to my body. I’ll keep you posted in the comments if anything happens.

Did you miss eating meat?

When I was almost finished with half of my pita, I remember thinking, ” I don’t miss meat”. The meat was good but I am good without it . . . as of right now at least.

Did the meat taste good to you after not eating it for six months?

The salmon was pan seared to perfection. I seasoned the salmon with lime juice, Himalayan Pink Salt, Black Pepper, and Garlic Powder. Simple and so delicious. In short, it tasted good but I still didn’t miss it. I may be over it already.

How did you prepare your mind, body, and soul to eat meat for the first time in six months?

One way was eating eggs and dairy in baked goods. I didn’t cook any eggs but I would have egg in my Thai take out food I ordered.

I coached my mind into eating meat by reading various articles online about people who started eating meat again after so much time.

Also, I guess subconsciously, I decided to eat meat after a conversation with a colleague about his meat diet and how his skin was so clear, he had so much energy, and he lost so much weight.

So now with the most popular questions answered, let’s show some photos of the meat I ate for the first time in six months.
