Ola my friend! I want to take you on a little flashback to the time I travelled to Mumbai India. I stayed there for two weeks. Every second of this trip was memorable and pleasant. My trip was work related but I quickly learned that I was among a bunch of kindred foodies. India is my second home when it comes to food. They will feed you until you CANNOT take another bite.
Ok here are some observations:
- The food and drinks were made fresh and you could taste the difference in the food quality.
- I noticed that I did not see a fresh leafy green vegetable anywhere. After a few days, my soul longed for a salad of sorts but all vegetables were either pureed / blended / mashed ????.
- Food preparation and eating in India is full of love and appreciation. Nothing is done without food . . . except sleeping but every minute of the day, there’s some type of snack, drink, meal. I ate so much and felt like I lost weight.
- There were a wide (I mean as far as the east is from the west . . . almost) variety of sweets. I was wondering how is it possible to come up with these many recipes? But God made us brilliant so have fun India.
Ok let’s dive into the amazing eats in Mumbai India!
Lalit Hotel | Amazing Places to Eat in Mumbai India
The Lalit Hotel was one of the second places I visited to grab a bite to eat. It was pretty good. The hotel was massive. The food was delicious.
Leela Mumbai | Amazing Places to Eat in Mumbai India
The Leela Hotel was were I stayed the entire two weeks of my trip. Most mornings, if not every morning, I helped myself to my usual – the infamous Masala Omelette. It was so scrumptious. The spices were on point and hitting the spot. This was also, where I had my first meal, dinner. The food dinner was good but I prefer their breakfast.
BBQ Nation | Amazing Places to Eat in Mumbai India
Ok I am just realizing the message on the cake, “Well Come to BBQ India”. Haha, well done. This was my favorite spot to eat. I could not get enough and they would not stop bringing food.
The meats, corn, and paneer (cheese) were placed on skewers and then placed on the grill right in front of us. It was all you can eat and these were just the appetizers. The meats included, prawns, chicken, and mutton.
For dessert, I had Kulfi which is Indian ice cream. It is so good. My workmate doctored it all up, “Mumbai style”. See the video below. So much fun.
Somewhere in Pune | Amazing Places to Eat Near Mumbai India
This night I remember being so tired. We left work late and I was so sleepy that I wasn’t hungry but I am so glad that I stopped by this beautiful outdoor restaurant. It reminded me of an oasis in the middle of the wilderness. I had this meat dish smothered in this thick gravy. I remember they called gravy and not curry but it was sooo good. This was my second favorite spot to eat in India.
The brownie awesome. But this heavily infused drink was AMAZING. It was full of all types of fruit and herbs – oranges, limes, mint, others I can’t remember right now. I’ve tried replicating at home but I have yet to reach this level. When I do I will post it here.
Holy Communion (Pentecostal Church), Homemade Snacks, & Street Food | Amazing Eats in Mumbai India
Rajasthani Thali | Amazing Eats in Mumbai India
Rajasthani Thali is North Indian food and was my favorite “veg” food spot. “Veg” means vegetarian only and no meat. Did I miss the meat? No! I still remember the daal was so dreamy. All I could do was shake my head in happiness. I refused to cry because I needed to be fully present for every bite. I didn’t want any distractions. But seriously, this food was so so yummy.
Another Restaurant like BBQ Nation | Amazing Eats in Mumbai India
This restaurant was BBQ Nation’s competitor I guess. Some of my workmates said it was better than BBQ Nation. But it was not as good as BBQ Nation. I enjoyed the food though. The poori (or puri) on the far right are thin crispy (fried) shells (or puffs) that you can fill with broth or small foods. Then you put the whole thing in your mouth and eat it. It is quite the experience depending on what it is filled with. So so good.
Until Next Time
Well, there you have it. A little flashback of when I travelled to Mumbai India. I wasn’t able to include all that I ate. There were so much food every day. Would I go back to Mumbai India? God’s willing – yes, absolutely!
