4 Best Vegan Cheese Brands That Will WOW You

Ola my friend! Thinking about trying vegan cheese but scared to take the leap? A flurry of questions may cloud your mind. Does vegan cheese taste good? Is it healthy for you? Is it really 100% plant based or dairy-free? I have sampled several vegan cheese brands so far and four consistently find their way into my fridge. The ingredients may surprise you but the taste can actually go undetected by many to be regular cheese. Trust me, I have experimented with these brands on my family and friends. No one has ever complained.

I generally limit my intake of processed foods so I occasionally buy store-bought vegan cheese. Vegan cheese from the store can be extremely convenient when you are vegan or lactose intolerant or just seeking a cheese alternative for other reasons like sodium intake.

So are you ready for my list of four best vegan cheeses to-date? Ok here you go!

#1 Daiya Cheddar, Provolone and Mozzarella Shreds or Slices

The Daiya vegan cheese brand is outstanding. It melts nicely and most importantly tastes good. My favorite flavors are cheddar, provolone and mozzarella. I love the cheddar and provolone vegan cheese on my sandwiches. The mozzarella is the ultimate on my homemade pizza.

One of the main ingredients in this vegan cheese brand is chickpeas (garbanzo beans). One 7.1 oz bag can run $3-5. The sodium is a bit high but drastically lower than regular cheese. Kroger is my favorite place to buy Daiya vegan cheese.

#2 Simple Truth Plant Based Non-Dairy Hot Pepper Cheddar, Cheddar, and Mozzarella Shreds or Slices

The Simple Truth vegan cheese brand is one of my favorite cheese brands. It tastes and behaves like cheese but also cheaper than most brands. I especially enjoy the hot pepper flavor from time to time on my sandwiches. I substitute the Daiya brand for this brand when I want to spend less money for pretty much the same taste.

The main ingredients in this vegan cheese brand are fava bean protein and pea starch. One 8 oz bag can run $3.79 or lower. The sodium is a lot less than the Daiya brand. Kroger is my favorite place to buy Simple Truth vegan cheese.

#3 Follow Your Heart Dairy-Free Parmesan and Feta Vegan Cheese

I love love love the Follow Your Heart vegan cheese brand. Right now, I only eat their parmesan and feta vegan cheese products. The feta crumbles are the perfect addition to my greek salads or pita wraps. It is so delicious and satisfying. A little goes a long way with the feta vegan cheese.

You will not be disappointed in the parmesan vegan cheese. I was so surprised when making the healthier version of Little Caesar’s crazy bread; finger licking good!

The main ingredients in this vegan cheese brand is (modified) potato starch. One 5 oz container of parmesan vegan cheese costs around $5. One 6 oz container of feta vegan cheese costs around $4. The sodium is a little high in the feta crumbles (around Daiya’s level) but shockingly low in the parmesan cheese (around 85mg per serving). Kroger is my favorite place to buy Follow Your Heart feta / parmesan vegan cheese.

#4 Siete Cashew Mild Nacho and Blanco Vegan Queso

This is my go to when I have vegan nachos. The Siete vegan cheese taste surprisingly good. For me, I cannot stand warm/hot cashews but this brand gets pretty close to a nice cheese flavor. The texture is not 100% smooth. It is a little lumpy which doesn’t faze me. I do not have vegan nachos often but this is a nice addition when I do.

The main ingredient in this vegan cheese brand is cashews. One 10.8 oz container of queso costs $4-$6. The sodium is not too high similar to Simple Truth’s brand. Kroger is my favorite place to buy Siete Dairy Free queso.

Final Thoughts

There you have it. Four best vegan cheese products I highly recommend you try. As stated earlier, I am careful to limit my consumption because these are processed foods. However, they are good cheese alternatives when you want quality and convenience. I am learning that vegan cheese is healthier than real cheese by a large margin. For me, I enjoy not feeling heavy or being bloated or having a massive headache which I normally endure when eating real cheese.

What about you? Have you tried vegan cheese? Do you have any preferred brands or flavors? I would love to hear your experiences or feedback. Just comment below or send me a quick message to my email. If you are looking for some vegan snacks I recommend this list here.

Well, I will take my leave for now. I look forward to our time together again soon. Be inspired to have an appetite to Live and Live well.
